Miriam's was a cute little place! Nothing varies from her description. You do share the property, not house, with Miriam and her family. The main house is probably 100 feet away. The house was clean, and smelled great. The pullout sofa was comfortable, as were the sleeper chairs and the air mattress. The shower was awesome and she provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, and washcloths. I would suggest bringing your own pillows, as there were only 4 rather thin ones (but looked brand new!). We have zero complaints about this place and the owners. We would totally stay again.

We were looking for a quiet day away, just the two of us, and Ember & Oak delivered beyond what we expected. The moment we arrived, something in us just exhaled.
The space is stunning wood ceilings, an open loft layout, and every detail thoughtfully taken care of. Fully equipped kitchen, coffee ready to go, wine glasses waiting. We cooked together, which ended up being one of our favorite parts of the whole trip.
But the patio at golden hour is where the magic really happened. String lights glowing, firepit crackling, nothing but peaceful surroundings. It’s the kind of evening you want to bottle up and keep.
And while it feels completely tucked away from the world, you’re still close to shops and conveniences when you need them so you get the best of both.
The host was warm, communicative, and clearly puts real care into the guest experience. If you and your person are craving genuine stillness without sacrificing comfort, this is the one. We’re already planning a return trip.

We stayed at Ember & Oak from 2/27–3/1 as a family of five, including three small kids, and had such a wonderful experience. Arrival and self check in process was incredibly easy, which made settling in after travel seamless. The space itself is beautifully designed with very tasteful decor and feels both cozy and thoughtfully curated.
The property is perfectly secluded and peaceful while still being conveniently close to grocery stores and even Starbucks if you need a quick run into town. We spent every evening around the fire pit, which quickly became our favorite part of the stay.
One of the highlights was taking advantage of the on call chef service, which was fantastic and made the experience feel extra special. The WiFi was excellent & made it easy to stay connected when needed, and we were genuinely impressed by the water quality in the showers, such a small detail that made a big difference.
Honestly, the only problem we had was that we didn’t want to leave. Highly recommend!

This guest house in Terrell, TX was absolutely perfect for my solo work trip.
The space was spotless, quiet, and thoughtfully set up. The workspace was comfortable, and the entire guest house felt calm and private—exactly what I needed.
The bed was very comfortable, the linens were high quality, and everything was clearly well maintained. I appreciated how clean and organized the space was, with small details that made it feel welcoming rather than just functional.
The location was peaceful and ideal for focusing during the day, yet still convenient to town.
The level of care, communication, and consistency you hope for in a top-tier host was evident throughout the stay.
Check-in and check-out were seamless, and the host was responsive and professional.
If you’re coming to Terrell and want a quiet, clean, and comfortable guest house with a great host, I highly recommend staying here. I would absolutely book again.
